Gather relevant information from multiple print and digital sources; assess the credibility of each source; and quote or paraphrase the data and conclusions of others while avoiding plagiarism and providing basic bibliographic information for sources.

• Annie Moore becomes the first immigrant to enter Ellis Island in 1892
  Students explore online resources about Ellis Island, interview an immigrant in the area, and publish their stories.
• Argumentative Writing Standards Rubric
  This rubric will help assess first draft argumentative writing projects for 6th Grade English Language Arts.

  A terrific resource for teachers/media specialists teaching about specific illustrators and their work.
• Developing a Definition of Reading
  In this lesson from ReadWriteThink, students will interact with a variety of different texts to uncover a broader meaning of reading. Given one of a variety of different texts, students will brainstorm alone and together what they will need as a reader to successfully read and understand the text given to them. The students will share findings and discuss strategies needed to read specific kinds of texts.
• Disease Detective
  You've arrived at a hospital near a national park where all but two members of two families fell ill while camping. Interview all eight family members to see how they became infected or not. What caused the illness?
• Improving Research Skills with Effective Keywords
  This video lesson is on how to use precise vocabulary to improve Internet searches. (6 minutes)
• Using Critical Thinking to Find Trustworthy Websites
  This is a video lesson about determining credibility of online sources. (6 minutes)
• Writing Den Topics
  Students choose a topic that interests them. They then select to read about words, sentences, or paragraphs about the topic and then take a short quiz to check comprehension.
