Thinking & Reasoning
This is an assignment that requires the use of the computer. It covers fibers, clothing customs, clothing and climate, fashion, and color. It can also count as an agricultural lesson.
Worksheet for each student. Access to the web.
To conserve paper, run off the worksheets and have students write the answers on their own papers.
Students will learn about various textiles and how they are made.
Hand out worksheets and tell students how to find the web site required for this lesson. Once in the lab, it will take about 10 minutes to help students find the lesson. If some students finish early, they can help others or look up other subjects on "Thinkquest". The teacher should look up the web site and Fabric Online lesson ahead of time because the directions to find it may change. Two students can easily share one computer to complete this activity.
The website used for this assignment is found at www.thinkquest.org. First, click on libraries. Then click on ThinkQuest Internet Challenge Library. Go to the bottom of the page and type in fabrics. Click on Search. Click on Fabric Online; then, Click here to view this site.
