Telco outage: 2016-05-08 @ 9:00 AM Description: Century Link is experiencing a failure in one of its Central Offices which has caused many circuits in the Salt Lake and Tooele areas to be down. Though they a crew has been dispatched, as of right now there is no ETA as to when services will be resotored.
Update: This outage was resolved at 12:07 PM. Impact: Multiple sites located in the Salt Lake valley and everything in Tooele and west of Tooele

Cogent customers receiving service in Salt Lake City, UT will be affected by this maintenance. Only the Cogent Order ID(s) listed above will be impacted. The purpose of this work is Router Upgrade - Upgrade Route Switch Processors in a core router to provide additional capacity and greater performance.

Impact: During this maintenance window, you will experience one or more brief interruptions in service while we complete the maintenance activities; the interruptions are expected to last less than up to 60 minutes down time (20-30 minutes expected) total. However, due to the complexity of the work, your downtime may be longer. Customers may also see some reconvergence during the maintenance window.

Additional Redundancy at Down town data center: 2016-05-19 @ 11:00 PM Description: Networking staff will moving a couple of backbone connections from core routers located in the MeetMe A room into a core device located in the MeetMe B room. These changes will provide both device and room redundancy

Impact: These moves will impact Internet access through the Century Link Internet connection as well as the backbone like from DDC to Weber Sate University. Due to the redundant and resilient nature of the network, very minimal impact, if any, will be seen as traffic reroutes to other Internet and Backbone links
Salt Lake City Area Outages...: 2016-05-19 @ 10:30 PM Description: A refinery explosion is likely the cause of a significant power outage for the greater Salt Lake City and South Salt Lake Areas. As expected many sites are offline as a result. The backbone is up and stable, but we expect the power to be offline for some time as crews attempt to fix the damage.
Update: This outage was resolved on time. Impact: Multiple sites in the SLC area will be offline until power is restored. If you have issues after power has been restored, please contact the UEN NOC for assistance.

Century Link Scheduled Maintenance: 2016-05-24 @ 12:05 AM Description: Sometime between midnight at 6 AM on Tuesday May 24, Century Link will be rebooting various cards to upgrade software.
