  • Three Ways to Ensure All Students Have A Chance To Answer Content Area Questions

    Research indicates that students learn better when they actively participate in their learning, rather than passively listen to lectures. Student participation in class discussions is one example of this. It’s important to give all students opportunities to respond to content area questions. However, studies seem to show that teachers naturally tend to call on the same few students over and over– generally, the students who are eager to answer questions. As teachers, we often subconsciously favor one side of the room over the other, consistently looking at that side of the room more and calling on more people from that side of the room.
