Strand 2

Students will be able to recognize basic sewing equipment and its function.

Standard 2

Identify sewing tools, their function, maintenance and safety procedures.

• Measurements and Measuring Tools
  Students will be able to calculate and measure material, (including lace and elastic), given a partial unit. They will then use this knowledge to complete a hot pad project.
• Seam Allowances and Reading Measuring Tapes
  Students will sew a seam allowance sample using 1/4 inch, 1/2 inch, 5/8 inch, and 1 inch seam allowances, and read a measuring tape to the nearest 1/8 of an inch.
