Strand 3: SAFETY AND DISEASE PREVENTION (SDP)
Students will apply practical knowledge and skills to develop lifelong behaviors for personal and community well-being.
Standard HI.SDP.2:
Demonstrate how to apply thoughtful decision-making in health-related situations (for example, substance use, vehicle safety, sun safety, recreational safety, firearm safety, physical activity, nutritional choices).

Safety in the Home Presentation
In this lesson students will share safety tips related to the home or a recreational activity. They will take photos to help teach their safety tips.

Violence in the Media
In small groups, students will define violence and discuss different examples of violence in the media. Each group will then share its definition and examples with the class, the teacher will then conduct the activity: "Taking a Stand on Media Violence". After the activity, the small groups will then discuss different ways of dealing with violence in the media and share ideas with the class.

What It's Like to Walk in Their Shoes
This lesson will help students identify personal behaviors that contribute to, or detract from a safe caring community.
