    A PowerPoint projector for the presentation.


    Background for Teachers

    Reading of Chapter 12 from the text.


    Student Prior Knowledge

    Reading of Chapter 12 and familiarity with issues on abuse.


    Intended Learning Outcomes

  • Students will identify signs and types of abuse and prevention strategies.
  • Students will identify characteristics of abusers and victims, identify the parts of the violence cycle and explain the cycle by using examples to illustrate how the cycle promotes abuse
  • Students will define sexual harassment and explain how to deal with it
  • They will define rape and steps to follow if a rape occurs.


    Instructional Procedures

    Attachments

    Print all lesson plans and handouts provided on the FHS 2400 CD. Follow the PowerPoint presentation covering family violence on the first day and child abuse on the second day.


    Assessment Plan

    Students will have completed the reading test before coming to class. Students will complete Mandatory Assignment for State Test (313) #8 - Identify types of abuse and appropriate ways to break the cycle.
