Intended Learning Outcomes

Students will identify careers related to the fashion industry of design, textiles, consumerism, and personal fashion.

Follow the lesson plan as outlined.

Motivator: Give each student a piece of paper, or have them take one out. Give the students 5 minutes to list as many careers related to the fashion industry as they can. When the time is up, have them count the careers on their list. Have the student with the most careers read their list

  1. Introduction about careers in the fashion industry.
  2. Pass out a career to each student. Each student will look up the information on the handout about the career given using the Internet or other resources available.
  3. Each student will stand and share their career with the class. Students will fill out the information about each career on the handout provided.


Strategies for Diverse Learners

Students can work with a partner, or put students in groups to present to the class.


Extensions

Students can make a poster advertising the careers. Students can create a power point slide to put into a presentation for the class.

Invite a guest speaker to come and talk to the class about careers in fashion.

FIDM - Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. Talk about the programs offered at the school, or show a promotional video.


Assessment Plan

Students will share their information with the class. Assessment will be made by having their handouts filled out completely.
