UETN Engineers will be performing router upgrades at our UVU Wastach POP.
Lumen Fiber Cut: 2024-10-02 @ 11:00 PM Description: At 11pm 10/2 UEN NOC witnessed several edge sites go down/lose service. Caused a by a Lumen Fiber cut.
Update: From Lumen: 7:30am The manhole that needs to be accessed is 175 feet away from the suspected fiber damage. As a safety measure, water will be pumped out of the manhole to continue the light level testing to pinpoint the damage.
Update: From Lumen 8:10am - diggers & splicers enroute to fiber cut location eta appox 1hr from now.
Update: From Lumen 8:45am - splicer mgr , Cory has permission to start on FT. Union. UDOT is giving him access to Wasatch Dr at 9a. Once they get in there they will find an empty duct to pull in cables first and then start on repairing damaged duct while splicers are splicing the cable. Looks like 216F three 144F, and a 12F
Update: From Lumen 10:45am - It is suspected that a 216-count fiber cable, three 144-count fiber cables, and a 12-count fiber cable are damaged. The repair process will take all day due to the number and size of the fiber cables and is expected to continue into early tomorrow morning before services are restored.
Update: Update from Lumen 2:40pm - The 216-count fiber cable has been successfully pulled through the conduit, and Splice teams are on their way to the site to begin splicing. The three remaining damaged conduits have been exposed, allowing the process of pulling the remaining fiber cables to commence.
Update: From Lumen 6:57pm - Splice crews are continuing efforts to prepare fiber cables for splicing operations.
Update: From Lumen: 10pm - Splicing has commenced, and is estimated to take several hours.

Provider outage: 2024-10-14 @ 12:30 PM Description: Several UEN Customers are offline due to a provider outage. We are working with the provider to determine the root cause and repair times.
Update: As of 1:11p, all affected customers are back online but the provider is going to do an emergency replacement for a piece of failing equipment so there may be some more downtime in the near term. We will leave this outage notice open until the failing equipment is replaced. Thank you for your patience!

Unitah Basin Vernal Outage: 2024-10-24 @ 11:30 PM Description: At 11:30pm 8/24th UEN NOC saw a fiber disruption to our Unitah Basin Vernal POP. We are currently engaged with our fiber provider on this outage. No ETR at this time.
Update: Fiber provider onsite working on issue, no ETR.
Update: This outage was resolved at 2:52 PM. Impact: Customers in the Vernal area.

Normal: A planned outage, 24 hours in advance.
Urgent: A planned outage, 12 hours in advance
Emergency: Immediate outage required
Third Party Maintenance: A planned outage performed by an organization other than UEN
